Week 8 EOC: Creative Content

What creative thing are you going to do? How to get the word out? Sample video commercial. "The aim of marketing to create value for customers and to capture value from customers in return."-Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg3. My idea can be very basic and easy to manage. The first thing I would have to do is contact as many programs and organizations as possible to get approved to film. After going about setting a partnership with the organization, I would then ask to feature the video in their website. That way everyone who visits the website will automatically be presented with the opening of the video. It can also be shared with through the spread of social media, starting with the organizations "fan page". "At the corporate level, the company starts the strategic planning process by defining its overall purpose and mission." -Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg39. The more organizations I can get to feature the video on their website, the more people will see it and get some support.

Implementation Evaluation Control

"The analysis, planning, implementation, and control of sales force activities. It includes designing sales force strategy and structure and recruiting, selecting, training, supervising, compensating, and evaluating the firm’s salespeople." -Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg33. In preparing to film organizations, careful marketing strategies is very important and to make sure your business becomes successful. It is important to have the necessary equipment, release forms and right purpose. "The consumer arrives at attitudes toward different brands through some evaluation procedure. How consumers go about evaluating purchase alternatives depends on the individual consumer and the specific buying situation." -Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg154. People will watch the videos and wonder if this will really benefit them and the organization. Building a relationship to the viewers will be a challenge in the 30-60sec. video presented unto them.

Price

"Rather than offering high quality at a high price, or lesser quality at very low prices, marketers in all industries are looking for ways to offer today’s more financially cautious buyers greater value—just the right combination of product quality and good service at a fair price." -Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg79. Talking about good service at a fair price, NGPStudio is offering itself as a volunteer group to certain needy organizations. The plan is to give my clients a USB containing it's video file. Depending on the organization, we can offer a small reasonable payment if asked for DVD copies, etc. Organizations that would like NGPStudio to cover another event or have another promotional video may also be charged a reasonable payment. That way, after promoting it's first video, other organizations will draw attention and come in contact to network. " As a part of a company’s overall value proposition, price plays a key role in creating customer value and building customer relationships."-Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg275. One of my objectives is to make my product valuable so that a source of income will fall in. If organizations appreciate your work, they will invest into your projects.

Distribution

In a small business, reaching your goal to make it big has to go through some intermediate parties. This means starting off as volunteering or networking with other companies promoting it's product. The process of getting products or services from its source to market is referred to as a ‘distribution channel’ or ‘chain.’(http://www.mymarketingdept.com/). After examining my business, my distribution type will be through the form of company owned, or direct sales. Since I will be meeting with clients face-to-face, it will be easier to give the finished product in person through a flash USB, or DVD. "Small businesses lack the resources to effectively compete on every front, so focus on those competitors from whom you can reasonably expect to take market share". (http://www.bizfilings.com).

Product

"Product  means the goods-and-services combination the company offers to the target market." -Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg31. My product for NGPStudio is a high quality video or commercial shot at a professional level making it appealing to the audience. Clients will receive a copy of the original file and have the rights to share it however they want and feature it on their website. "Successful new product development requires a customer centered, team-based, systematic effort." -Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg31. My product can be the awareness and information given so that the message gets across to the viewers. It is a team based effort on my part which makes videography much easier.

Target Market Strategy

In my marketing plan, targeting a specific audience is very important in a business. "The company first gains a full understanding of the marketplace by researching customer needs and managing marketing information" -Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg31. Many companies know that they cannot serve all people with their product. Instead, they target as many consumers that will benefit from their product. "The company develops product offers and creates strong brand identities for them. It prices these offers to create real customer value and distributes the offers to make them available to target consumers." -Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg33. NGPStudio's target audience is basically anybody. Anybody can make a difference in someones life and through these promotional videos, the goal is to inspire someone who will take initiative to do something good for someone or help an organization.

Marketing Strategy

Starting off as a small business, NGPStudio will be taking advantage of the many marketing strategies possible. "Outlines the broad marketing logic by which the business unit hopes to create customer value and relationships and the specifics of target markets, positioning, and marketing expenditure levels. How will the company create value for customers in order to capture value from customers in return?" -Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg56. A strategy that I will be using is to promote my business through creating a website that will attract organizations and clients. In building your website, this will let your clients know your persona and have valuable knowledge about what you are presenting. Having a website is very time consuming and a huge part of your priority because of updating information and keeping in contact with users. To help clients have an understanding for your business, you can show them a promotional video or highlight reel of your work. That way, both you and your client can brainstorm each others ideas to come up with a final decision. "To design a winning marketing strategy, the marketing manager must answer two important questions: What customers will we serve (what’s our target market)? and How can we serve these customers best (what’s our value proposition)?". -Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg9. It is very important and a must to give what your customers want. With NGPStudio, I am willing to expand my horizons and work around obstacles that may not be in my comfort level, but will take the challenge and do the best I can to promote something great. Helping me to promote my business is the powerful use of social media. Making a fan page and getting support from friends and others will have access to updates showing promotional videos and information updates.

Situation or SWOT Analysis

A SWOT analysis is a very useful tool when it comes to decision making on how to go about your business and or organizations. It is very important to examine various strengths and weaknesses so that you can only become successful against your competitors. Definition: "An overall evaluation of the company’s strengths (S), weaknesses (W), opportunities (O), and threats (T)." -Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg56. In my individual project on raising awareness by filming short videos or commercials for needy organizations, I have listed my own SWOT analysis.

(Strengths): NGPStudio is a production company that takes videography to a professional level with high quality videos that captures every moment needed. Has potential to relay messages through another form of art on any topic.

(Weaknesses):  Not 100% sure to get spot on local television as a commercial.

(Opportunities): Networking NGPStudio with many organizations and having a reputation of helping give back to organizations and or people in general.

(Threats): There will be other growing competition who will or may already have connections to different television stations or have already got their name out to people in need of videographers.

"Threats and opportunities assess major threats and opportunities that the product might face, helping management to anticipate important positive or negative developments that might have an impact on the firm and its strategies." -Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg56.

Each business has it's own strengths and weaknesses. It is up to you on how to market your product. Drawing out a matrix on a board can help brainstorm ideas with your fellow partners.

Objectives

"A marketing plan objective is the goal you want to achieve. It's a definite, clear, final product you want to see come about." - (http://www.hellomarketing.biz). My objective is to raise awareness by supporting needy organizations through a form of art. What I want at the end of the day to inspire somebody to do something good for another or to an organization. I see as if you inspire one person, they will have the courage to inspire many others. Starting out as a small business, it is important for me to focus on at least two goals. Marketing objectives and goals are very much interrelated but should have parts within a marketing plan. Well established objectives and goals will form the foundation of full marketing plan strategies and tactics. - (http://suite101.com). Another objective for my business is to have long term relationships with organizations and get into better opportunities for videography. I hope to get noticed for my work and to collaborate to shoot events such as benefit concerts, weddings, awareness, and other giving organizations.

Business Mission Statement

"A mission statement is a statement of the organization’s purpose—what it wants to accomplish in the larger environment. A clear mission statement acts as an “invisible hand” that guides people in the organization." - Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg39.

"To raise awareness by supporting needy organizations through a form of art."

"The company needs to turn its mission into detailed supporting objectives for each level of management. Each manager should have objectives and be responsible for reaching them."-Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg41.

What I want for my business is to be an effective tool that helps others, and what more to help others by using your skills set and talent. Through promoting different needy organizations by filming a video, I know that out of anybody who watches it will be inspired and/or motivated.

Week 7 EOC: The Pitch

"To film needy organizations and present their story through a website in hopes to get people inspired to make a difference."
When it comes to videography, your goal is to present a subject to an audience that will inspire or even a public service announcement. Since the idea here is to "make a difference",  I was trying to think about how to help others or a organization with my talent of film, and I came across an idea to film needy organizations and present their story. Many people know different organizations but do not know what they go through and how much they need help from others. So what I was thinking is to go to as much organizations as possible and to present them in a website that I will be creating. The website that I will be creating will feature video's filmed by my crew and present needy organizations and how people can help. I am not sure exactly how this will benefit us besides the fact that we will get better in shooting videos and to be recognized for doing good. I know for a fact that this will benefit the organizations because if the video is presented well, then people will "share" it to others also with social media. "Companies that market experiences realize that customers are really buying much more than just products and services. They are buying what those offers will do for them." - Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; pg 210.

Week 6 EOC: Me x 3

All companies sell products in hopes to relate or meet the needs of every demographic. For me, the worlds famous Nike can define me as a person and an athlete. When it comes to sportswear, I have been attached to this company because it gave off that connection of everyday modern sports and attire. What helps me stay attached to this company is the relationship they make with their customers. For example, they have devices that measures one foot and customizes ones own pair of shoes to fit an athlete. You can also make your own color shoe of a preferred styled called Nike iD. "Buyers are too numerous, too widely scattered, and too varied in their needs and buying practices. Moreover, the companies themselves vary widely in their abilities to serve different segments of the market." - (Marketing: An Introduction, 10th Ed. Prentice Hall Publishing; pg 175). When it comes to sports, I pretty much own a pair of Nike's for running, basketball, an indoor court shoes for volleyball. This company has defined me and made me want to use the brand that the "pros" use to better my game. I've have gotten attached to the company so much that if i wear any other shoe company (Adidas, New Balance, Reebok, etc), then i would feel like i am not a true customer to Nike and people would look at me differently. Why? Because it's also a style like no other. It's one of those things where "your only cool and a real athlete" with Nike. One of the best quotes recently that I've seen is: "If you have a body, your an athlete." - Bill Bowerman

Another product that I can say defines me is my earphones by Skullcandy. Music is very important to me and allows me to get through my day. But I am very picky when it comes to the quality of music. When I listen to the music, I like to feel like I am actually in the studio with the sound of the bass slightly rumbling my eardrum. It’s the feeling where the music does not sound to “low pass” filtered or “high pass” filtered, but the right amount of quality at a bit rate of 192. What’s good about this product is that they are at a reasonable price compared to other companies like Bose, Dre. Beats or Pioneer. This is an example of “Differentation”, which involves actually differentiating the firm’s market offering to create superior customer value.

Week 5 EOC: Super Bowl Commercial

Looking through a lot of Superbowl commercials, this one in particular stuck out to me. It's a commercial entitled, "Halftime In America" narrated by Clint Eastwood. Clint talks about a speech relating to both teams in the locker room and how they can make a comeback in the game, whether they are losing or how to finish the game for the championship. It's not just "halftime in america" during the Superbowl, but literally halftime in america too. "And we're all scared because this isn't a game". Many people are without jobs wondering how they will make it through their lives and striving their best to provide for their family. But despite all the trials, we all come together as one and look to what is ahead of us. "This country can't be knocked out with one punch. We get right back up again and when we do the whole world is going to hear the roar of our engines" - Clint Eastwood. This commercial is very inspiring and motivating enough for many people to make a change in their lives. Most importantly, it gives us a boost or reminder that we can make the world a better place when we all unite as one. Another story behind this commercial is that Clint Eastwood talks about the city of Detroit and how Chrysler lost their business earlier this year. With the company struggling, as well as many Americans, he says "But after those trials, we all rallied around what was right, and acted as one."
What i really liked about this video is how it was made, showing supporting details with various actors acting through difficult times. It relates to the average men and ones daily life struggles. All in all i consider this as one of the best Superbowl motivating commercials.

Week 1 EOC: My Voice

Hello, my name is Nico Poblete, Videographer and Music Producer living in Las Vegas, NV. As a child, I have been following the footsteps of my father who is a Videographer. I started out as a production assistant not knowing later on that I would be doing this for a living. Also with a passion for music, I've been making my own instrumentals to add onto my video edits. Being in these industries have been my passion that allows me to express my creativity and craft. With my very first handycam, I started making short films with friends and started to pay attention to camera angles in movies. I love telling a story and being creative through unique camera angles. It's been my dream to make an impact on people's lives, whether it is a wedding, engagement, inspiring events, documentary, or even somebody(s) life story. In the editing room, once I start a project, I can't stop and have to complete it that night. You can say I get very addicted to my projects. I think about the people and what they want to see because if I don't like what I'm watching, then who will?

Week 1: Great Customer Service

There is one retail store in Las Vegas that I always count on because of the quality of products and as well as good customer service. In this place, I have access to great deals and monthly discounts. On this particular day, I needed help with audio routing and did not know all the parts to complete my set up. "Broadly defined, marketing is a social and managerial process by which individuals and organizations obtain what they need and want through creating and exchanging value with others. In a narrower business context, marketing involves building profitable, value-laden exchange relationships with customers."(Marketing An Introduction 10th Edition p4). That store happened to be Guitar Center, a music retail store where I love everything from the drums, parts and accessories, midi-controllers and piano's. Working in retail at the time, I expect a lot when I enter into another store, especially a place where I am a regular customer. I was greeted by a woman in the front upon entering the door. Making my way to the Digital Electronics section, I headed to the microphone stations where again was also greeted, this time by a gentlemen. He simply asked if I was doing okay and not to hesitate to ask him questions. I did hesitate and did encounter him about 10 minutes later. I was looking at the audio cables and he came up to me which one I was looking for asking me what kind of set up I got. I told him I was looking for something to hook up my condenser mic and how that actually works. He told me I needed a audio box or phantom power that plugs in as a USB, and an XLR cable to run my mic through the audio box. I did not know a lot about microphone set up at the time, so he brought out options of everything that is affordable to my budget. He wanted to give me the best products for what I can afford to make it sound like the "pros". During our conversation, he reminded me that I don't always have to the best products just to make good music. You can make good music with just almost anything. I ended up purchasing an audio box and an XLR that night, and he taught me how to use the software. I couldn't thank him enough for his help. After purchase, he gave me his card if I had any questions or help with my home set up.

Week 3 EOC: Making Money For Good (Nike)

One of the most successful organizations to sponsor so many teams and athletes is Nike. Nike specializes in athletic shoes of all kind, sports gear, equipments, and basically anything you can think of. With Nike sponsoring so many teams and athletes, customers follow the trend allowing them to buy what the pros use. "If you have a body, you are an athlete" is how Nike lets you know that they are available to anyone no matter what race, color, gender you are. Nike's goal is "to carry on a legacy of innovative thinking, whether to develop products that help athletes of every level of ability reach their potential, or to create business opportunities that set Nike apart from the competition and provide value for our shareholders". Nike also partnered up with other subsidiaries including Cole haan, Converse inc., Hurley International LLC, NIKE Golf, and Umbro Ltd.

Week 3 EOC: Making Money For Good (The Salvation Army)

A good partnership is The Salvation Army collaborating with retail store Target. Many Target locations are helping needy children with supplies, backpacks and clothing to be prepared for school. This helps sales for Target and brings more new shoppers who are interested in their items. The Salvation Army is also a disaster relief program in times of hurricanes, tsunamis, floods, etc. Volunteers are hired every event or in time of need and also accept all kinds of donations and have fundraisers. They service food, take care of homeless, trafficking hunger, having thrift stores and many more. Salvation Army provides Youth Camps where thousands of low-income families enjoy the fresh air, exercise and meet new people. The children are trained by counselors with self-reliant and develop new skills, such as swimming, arts and crafts, music, adventures and scouting camping and many more. We also notice the red buckets with the sound of a bell every winter during Christmas season. Donations are to help have Christmas dinners to families, clothing and toys for children.  All in all, The Salvation Army is a great service providing for every family in need no matter what situation may be.

Week 3 EOC: Making Money For Good (RMHC)

One of the foundations that i found to become successful to the community is the 'Ronald McDonald House Charities'. This program has been around for 38 years now and spread all over 57 countries. RMHC's objective is to support many families around the world by giving them the stability and resources their child needs to be happy and healthy. Hospital rooms are built for children to think that they are not in a hospital by providing toys, books, etc. Its proven in research that having family rooms help the healing process go by faster. Some amenities found in the family room are a kitchen area, shower facilities, sleeping rooms or sitting area with televisions. RMHC offers scholarships and grants for student education. It is available to anyone despite race, color, religion, gender, or disability. McDonalds has fundraisers and donations to help raise profit for the organization and company.
